Mom started walking today for her doctor-prescribed exercise. New shoes and everything. I’m not sure how the malt she picked up on the way fits in to the routine…

Also, we saw this spider on the doorstep on the way out. Mom says it looks like an octopus. I’ll have to take her word for it.

But I’m Jammin!

Wait…what? I’m supposed to use my HANDS to play? How dumb is that!

Had an appointment with my personal physician today, and discovered that there’s something worse than baths: shots. Owy!
On the bright side, I’m healthy. They say I weigh about 11.5 pounds (less than the scale at home says, but Dad always accuses it of being wrong anyway) and about 23.25 inches. The baby-measurers tell me that’s 70th percentile in weight and 87th in height.

Sugar and spice and everything highly glycemic. That’s what this little girl is made of.

They just told Mom her gestational diabetes didn’t entirely go away and that she’s going to have to do some serious work to keep it at bay…

…um…

I may have a few years of sucking up to do.

(Get it? And I’m nursing…)

Things are looking up. The pediatrician says the hips look great!

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Went to Children’s Hospital for another ultrasound, this time of my hips. They hadn’t seen anything wrong. They scan all girls born breech because of an increased risk of hip dysplasia. Waiting to hear the results from the pediatrician but I’m not worried.

Then we went next door to Dad’s lab and met all of his work peeps.

Mom says I was grown in one of these test tubes. (I pretended to fall for it.)

Look upon my mighty milk belly.

Love it!
Fear it!

Don’t mock tummytime. This is work.

They tested my kidney today and I ‘ear’ there’s no reflux! This is good news. The only thing we have to do now is wait and test again in 3 months. I’ll probably just grow out of the hydronephrosis.

Great Grandma Clara sent this baby picture of other namesake Grandma Ann, and a dress that Ann wore (which Clara handmade!).

The pediatrician says the right kidney is completely normal (just shaped funny, so it fooled the prenatal ultrasound), but the left has slight hydronephrosis. We still don’t know why, so we’re doing another diagnostic procedure next week to rule out reflux. Also I gained weight! Back to birth weight and then some (up to 8#3oz from 7#13.3oz).

Got a new anklet for my collection.

Ultrasound today for big kidneys at Childrens’ Hospital. (First ultrasound here on the outside.) Seeing pediatrician tomorrow for interpretation.
