You’ve got to ask yourself one question, “Do I feel lucky?”. Well, do ya, Tom?

Great picture.
I hadn’t realized the pool room floor would be even in terms of height with the floor under the future skylight (or is my perspective off here?)

With all the furniture moved, the perspective is deceptive. In this shot we are looking at the old dining room floor; the rug is right under the possible skylight location. The pool room is still sunken(and will remain, due to the costs involved in raising it); just beyond the rug in this pic you can see the concrete pad of the doorway area, dropping down ~5 inches to the pool room floor.

(to clarify, that’s the “pool room” in the upper left corner)

What skylight?

The one that doesn’t exist any more! The previous owners of the house had it installed as part of the “pool room” add-on, but according to the neighbors it leaked from day one and was eventually removed.
Our contractor says it’s a perfect location for lighting up the house. He says if we do it right it won’t leak and will be awesome.
Mom & Dad aren’t prepared to deal with something like that right now, but maybe they will consider it in the future.

Lucky I did not have an aneurysm? Yes, very lucky.
